What does the "Entire Window" record exactly mean?

Using the "Entire Window" record option in the extension enables you to record all the activities on your screen. It's perfect for recording issues in action with everything included for maximum context.

For recording, you can select:

  • Chrome Tab

  • Window

  • Entire Screen

Note: You can toggle "system audio" capturing on or off using the switch located in the bottom right of the popup window before starting to record.

Steps to record the entire window

Get started

Open the extension and click the "Screen Record" button.

Select the recording mode

Hit the "Entire Window" button.

Select what to record and start

From the pop-up window, select what needs to be recorded. You can select a Chrome Tab, Window, or the Entire Screen.

For instance, click the "Entire Screen" option, enable "system audio" recording, and hit "Share". This starts the recording. You can keep recording for up to 15 minutes.

Also, you can include a video message in the recording using your mic and webcam. For this, enable them from the extension itself (before the recording starts) or from the control toolbar that shows after you've started the recording session.

Stop recording

Hit the "Finish recording" button from the control toolbar to stop recording.

With the control toolbar that shows after you start recording, you can:

  1. Drag and drop the toolbar anywhere on your screen.

  2. Finish recording.

  3. Pause/resume recording.

  4. Annotate your video with drawing tools.

  5. Blur elements with the "toggle blur tool" option to hide sensitive information.

  6. Add video messages with the recording (with mic and webcam enabled).

You can use the "Download Video" button to instantly download it on your device.

When you're finished adding issue details, upload the report to your BetterBugs account using the "Upload Bug Details" button. Use the report link to instantly share it with others.

With every bug report, you get auto-attached technical details, such as:

  • System environment information

  • Console logs (warnings, logs, errors, network errors)

  • Network requests

  • Navigation steps

  • Metadata (custom)

  • Application local storage data

You can also send the complete bug report to your integrated project management tools and issue trackers.

For this, click "+ Connect to your tools" at the bottom right section of the report screen. From here, you can connect your existing project tool with BetterBugs and then send reports directly to the tools' workspaces.
