BetterBugs integration with Jira

You can raise Jira tickets for all your issues directly from your browser. Include comprehensive details in a unified bug report, alongside Jira-specific information.

Authorizing BetterBugs for Jira enables BetterBugs to fetch the configured Jira template for you to add details like Project, Issue Type, Assignee, etc. Fill in the details and create Jira tickets right away, complete with a link to access the full bug report.

Steps to integrate BetterBugs with Jira

Install extension

Install the extension and pin it to the browser for quick access.

Capture the bug

Take a screenshot, record a video, or hit Rewind (if it's already enabled for the website).

Enter bug details

Add a title* (Required) and other bug details about the bug.

Connect with Jira

Open the "Send to your tools" dropdown from the top right corner of the screen. Click "Connect Jira" to authorize BetterBugs for Jira and click "Accept".

Choose the BetterBugs workspace and project to connect

Below the "Send to your tools" dropdown, select the BetterBugs Workspace and Project to connect with Jira.

• Dropdown 1: User's Workspace (default: BetterBugs Workspace Name)

• Dropdown 2: User's Project (default: BetterBugs Project Name)

NOTE: The integration will happen to the specific project you selected within BetterBugs. This means that if you have multiple projects, you'll need to set up separate integrations for each one. You can also integrate your entire workspace with the tool.

Enter details for Jira

Next, click on the "Send to your tools" dropdown. Select "Jira issue".

This fetches the available Jira fields for "Your Jira task info". Add details, such as Projects, Issue Type, and others.

Send report

Click on the "Upload Bug Details" button from down below.

The integration is complete.

When you create a Jira task, a new tab opens and posts the task to the designated Jira project. This task includes all the necessary details and a link to the complete bug report with developer tools information.

You can access the full bug report on the BetterBugs Dashboard, which contains all the captured information.

To check if the integration worked correctly and the report was shared with your Jira project,

1. Open the report that you just shared (using the Issue report link from the Jira task or your BetterBugs project).

2. Click on the Comments/Activities tab at the bottom right to check for a successful task creation message or any other activity on it. Make sure to enable the “Activities” with the toggle switch.

Steps to send an existing report to Jira

Login

Log in to your BetterBugs account.

Select project and open report

Select the project (within BetterBugs) that’s integrated with Jira. Open the report you want to share.

Enter details for Jira issue

Click "Send to your tools" from the top menu and select "Jira issue" from the "Select" dropdown. This will fetch the report template from Jira. Add details, such as Project, Issue Type, Assignee, and others.

NOTE: You can also update any details already available in the bug report

Send to Jira

Hit the "Create Issue" button.

A new tab with the created Jira Issue opens up, posting the ticket to the Jira Project containing all the details and a link to the complete bug report with developer tools information.
