BetterBugs Integration with Jira

Here's how to configure and integrate BetterBugs with Jira:

  1. Download and install the BetterBugs extension.

  2. Capture the bug using the Screen Capture, Video Recording, or Rewind feature.

  3. Add a title (Required) and other details about the bug.

  4. Open the "Send to your tools" dropdown from the top right corner of the report screen.

  5. Click "Connect Jira" to authorize BetterBugs for Jira and click "Accept".

  6. Below the "Send to your tools" dropdown, make the selections as per your preference for BetterBugs Workspace and Project: Dropdown 1: User's Workspace (default: BetterBugs Workspace Name) Dropdown 2: User's Project (default: BetterBugs Project Name)

Important Note: The integration will happen to the specific project you selected within BetterBugs. This means that if you have multiple projects, you'll need to set up separate integrations for each one.

  1. Click again on the "Send to your tools" dropdown.

  2. Click "Jira issue". This fetches the available Jira fields for "Your Jira task info". Add details like Projects, Issue Type, etc.

  3. Hit the "Upload Bug" button.

A new tab with the created Jira Task opens up posting the Task to the Jira Project containing all the details and a link to the complete bug report with developer tools info is included in the task. You can access the complete bug report on the BetterBugs Dashboard with all the information.

You have successfully integrated Jira with BetterBugs.

Here's how to send your existing BetterBugs report to Jira:

  2. Select the project (within BetterBugs) that’s integrated with Jira.

  3. Open the report you want to share.

  4. Click "Send to your tools" from the top menu and select "Jira issue" from the "Select" dropdown.

  5. This will fetch the report template from Jira. Add details like Project, Issue Type, Assignee, etc. (Note: You can also update any details already available in the bug report.)

  6. Hit the "Create Issue" button.

A new tab with the created Jira Issue opens up posting the ticket to the Jira Project containing all the details and a link to the complete bug report with developer tools info.
